Scotland have been given a boost ahead of the 6 Nations home fixture against Wales, with the announcement of a return to fitness for several key names.
Legendary full-back Andy Irvine will line up behind speedsters Jackie Stewart and Allan Wells in a strengthened backline. More star returnees are expected to shore up the pack that has struggled in the competition so far, with Sean Connery having been coaxed out of retirement to complement the welcome return to full match-fitness of war hero and talismanic No8 William Wallace.
Connoisseurs of midfield play will be eagerly anticipating the clash between Welsh centres Davies & Parkes, and the restored home combination of hardmen Graham Souness and John "Soap" McTavish. Elsewhere, killer instinct can be expected from front-rowers MacBeth and an MWMIK Jackal armoured vehicle of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, with able engine-room support from much-loved Doddie Weir and the recently re-commissioned HMS Glasgow.
Wales coach Warren Gatland responded, "Any Scotland team at Murrayfield is always tough, even without fictional superheroes or light armoured cavalry", and he and captain Alun Wyn Jones re-affirmed that Wales "will not be taking Scotland lightly" this weekend. Jones added "We'd be silly to, frankly, given their combined displacement of 4,822 tonnes."
